2026 NFL Draft Preview: Steelers Part 2

These names come from various senior bowl, combine and pro day visits and connections. Summaries are from nfl.com's draft tracker.

QB Garrett Nussmeier - LSU  6'2"  203

2025: 67.4%, 1,927yds, 12TDs/5INTs, 1 Rush TD

strengths: Impressive arm talent opens up opportunities. Able to zip spirals into very tight windows. Operational under pressure, with ability to make a play. Bounces & climbs to avoid the rush & get to a launch point. Takes very few unnecessary sacks.

weaknesses: Will force a circus throw when it's not necessary. Has trouble getting away from predetermined decisions. Puts the ball at risk far too often with low-reward throws. Shakes off changeups & throws the gas too often.

grade: 6.00 (Traits or talent to be an above-average backup)

comp: Drew Lock

DT Lee Hunter - Texas Tech  6'3 1/2"  318

combine: 5.18s 40, 21.5"vert, 8'4" broad

2025: 1st All-American/1st All-BIG 12, 41tot tckls, 2.5scks, 1FF

strengths: Fires off snaps with low pads & into leveraged contact. Slides with lateral blocks & can make a stand on the move. Changes directions pretty well in small spaces. Twitchy upper body creates violent sheds against  centers.

weaknesses: Too reliant on size over technique when taking on double teams. Lacks feel & efficiency in taking on down blocks. Lacks initial quickness to create early wins as a rusher.

grade: 6.29 (Will eventually become an average starter)

DT Darrell Jackson - Florida State  6'5 1/2"  315

2025: 44tot tckls, 1sck

strengths: Enormous presence in the middle. Can reach out & slow runners with an arm, even when he's being blocked. Uses his length & leg drive to crank up bull rush on centers. Moves well enough to bring down QB once he's in the pocket.

weaknesses: Plays with tight hips & a narrow base relative to his frame. Blockers can crowd his frame & uproot his anchor to clear him out. Movement is mechanical & lacking athletic flow. Hasn't learned to weaponize his length as a rusher.

grade: 6.00 (Traits or talent to be an above-average backup)

DT Kayden McDonald - Ohio St  6'2"  326

2025: Unanimous All-American/1st All-BIG 10, BIG10 DLOY, 65tot tckls, 3scks, 2FF/1FR, 1PD

strengths: Jolts blockers with his knock-back power. Excellent run-game recognition from early in the snap. Fights to maintain run fits against wide zone blocking schemes. Makes accurate shed choices to defend both gaps. Very good change-of-direction quickness in small spaces.

weaknesses: Doesn't gain enough width on lateral slide steps to threaten edges as a rusher. Plays with slow power, making it tougher to quickly shed. Delayed in activating hands & getting them into blockers.

grade: 6.39 (Will eventually become a plus starter)

comp: DJ Reader

EDGE Gabe Jacas - Illinois  6'4  260

combine: 30reps

2025: 1st All-BIG 10, 43tot tckls, 11scks, 3FFs, 1PD

strengths: Very rugged demeanor with a taste for physicality. Strong core & base help withstand power. Always looking to get to the ball & refuses to ride the block. Violent chop knocks the tackle's outside punch hand away. Works back underneath at pocket depth to vacuum pocket-climbers.

weaknesses: Lacks ideal twitch getting in & out of his block engagements. Average short-area quickness for sudden tackle tries. Rush path tends to be monotonous & predictable for tackles. Needs to set up inside counters on the next level.

grade: 6.33 (Will eventually become a plus starter)

comp: Matthew Judon

WR Omar Cooper Jr - Indiana  6'  199

combine: 4.42s 40, 37"vert

2025: 2nd All-BIG 10, 69rec/937yds/13TDs, 3c/74yds/1TD

strengths: Wins through contact. Creates lateral separation when breaking press. 1st & 2nd acceleration catches defenders off-guard. Explosive leaper who can pluck high throws at their apex. Rugged runner who can break free from multiple tacklers.

weaknesses: Inefficient getting in & out of internal breaks. Needs quicker recognition & adjustment on underthrows. Disappointing effort & physicality when asked to run block.

grade: 6.39 (Eventually will become a plus starter)

comp: Deebo Samuel

WR Antonio Williams - Clemson  5'11 1/2"  187

combine: 4.41s 40, 39.5"vert, 10'4"broad, 10reps

2025: 3rd All-ACC, 55rec/604yds/4TDs, 13c/78yds/1TD

strengths: Sauces up defenders with fakes & tempo changes. Works the middle of the field & has a good feel for soft spots in zone. RB's vision & cut quickness with ball in his hands. Loose & fluid making in-air adjustments to win jump balls.

weaknesses: Not a deep hip-sinker for tight turns in his routes. Lacks top-end speed to stretch defense from the slot. Average burst to separate getting oit of breaks. Route work will need to become more efficient & focused.

grade: 6.26 (Will eventually become an average starter)

OT J.C. Davis - Illinois  6'4"  322

combine: 5.16s 40, 30.5"vert, 8'3"broad

2025: 1st All-BIG 10

strengths: Good timing & consistency on his pin-&-climb combos. Power to torque & turn defender out of run gaps. Drives feet & looks to finish blocks when he has the advantage. Patient & independent hands allow him to gather spin counters. Good athleticism to mirror inside moves to find targets in space on screens.

weaknesses: Body control & contact balance are below-average. Poor hand placement limits block sustain/consistency in both phases. Allows rushers into his chest with popping & gathering.

grade: 5.86 (Average backup/Special teamer)

LB Jake Golday - Cincinnati  6'4 1/2"  239

combine: 4.62s 40, 39"vert, 10'5"broad

2025: 1st All-BIG 12, 104tot tckls, 3.5scks, 1FF, 3PDs

strengths: Attacks blocks & constricts run flow with heavy hands. Scrapes with tempo altercations to leverage the run. Comes to balance & has good stopping power as a tackler. Not easy manipulated out of his zone by QB's eyes. Can immediately step in as a kick-cover talent.

weaknesses: Average quickness to diagnose & read play design. Needs a quicker downhill trigger to blow up the blocking scheme. Could struggle covering RBs if asked. Linear pass rusher with below-average elusiveness.

grade: 6.33 (Could eventually become a plus starter)

comp: Malik Harrison

CB Brandon Cisse - South Carolina  6'  189

combine: 41"vert, 10'11"broad

2025: 27tot tckls, 1FF, 1INT, 5PDs

strengths: Explosive athletic ability. Sits on short catches & squeezes work space from off-man. Imposes size on catch point when he's tight in coverage. Long speed to stay in-phase with deep routes. Supports the run like a box safety. Beats blockers with quickness & meets runners at or near the line.

weaknesses: Below-average in route recognition & break matching from off. Below-average tracking & adjustments on downfield 50/50 balls. Needs to more consistently read/react to QB's eyes/operations.

grade: 6.27 (Will eventually become an average starter)

QB Luke Altmyer - Illinois   6'2"  210

combine: 4.72s 40, 32"vert, 9'6"broad

2025: 67.4%, 3,007yds, 22TDs/5INTs, 100c/242yds/5TDs

strengths: Plenty of experience in pro passing concepts. Patient to wait out the route development. Good eye manipulation to move zone defenders away from his target. Keeps eyes alive & searching for a completion when scrambling.

weaknesses: Low-arm slot makes him susceptible to batted passes. Can be a step slow to hit open receivers in stride. Accuracy issues appear tied to a lack of discipline with footwork. Inconsistent poise in the face of real or simulated pressure looks.

grade: 5.68 (Good candidate for bottom of the roster or practice squad)

CB Keionte Scott - Miami   5'11"  193

2025: Cotton Bowl DMVP, 2nd All-ACC, 64tot tckls, 5scks, 2FF/2FR, 2INTs/2TDs, 5PDs

strengths: Plays with nimble feet & sudden change of direction in space. Rushes in, wraps & finishes before yards are added after the catch. Displays pure strength & intensity to fight off bigger blockers. Lowers miss rate by closing tight before igniting the tackle. Blitzes off the edge with plenty of heat.

weaknesses: Inconsistent locating & responding to route development. Transitions run tight when his leverage is beaten. Urgency causes overflow when pursuing wide. Can come in a little hot as a run blitzer.

grade: 6.30 (Will eventually become a plus starter)

comp: Elijah Molden

CB Mansoor Delane - LSU  6'  187

2025: Unanimous All-American, 45tot tckls, 2INTs, 11PDs

strengths: Throws jabs & slides feet to cut off release from press. Gets hands on the route quickly & flows tightly to the route. Tracks QB without losing route awareness in zone coverage. Smothers the catch point like a dominant shot blocker. Full-contact thumper ready to jar the ball loose. Engulfs & wraps up pass-catchers to quickly end the play.

weaknesses: Can be baited by clever route combinations in deep zone. Aggressive hand usage to redirect, which will bring flags. Needs to become more consistent in locating deep throws. Can be tardy breaking down as an open-field tackler.

grade: 6.80 (Year 1 starter)

comp: Quinyon Mitchell

WR Makai Lemon - USC  5'11"  197

2025: 1st AP All-American/1st All-BIG 10, Bilentikoff Award, 79rec/1,156yds//11TDs, 2 Rush TDs

strengths: Manipulates defenders out of position with route acumen. Displays above-average burst from turns to gain separation. Ball-tracking adjustments & catch timing are elite. Elevates his toughness & focus when catch is untested. Good patience with late catch adjustment to save his catch space. Willing run blocker who gives legit efforts.

weaknesses: Appears quicker then fast when working vertical routes. Competitive but relatively ordinary after the catch. Needs runway to break off comebacks out of the drive phase.

grade: 6.70 (Year 1 starter)

comp: Amon-Ra St. Brown

WR Elijah Sarratt - Indiana  6' 2 1/2"  210

2025: 2nd All-BIG 10, 65rec/830yds/15TDs

strengths: Rugged & urgent when battling against physical coverage. Disciplined route-running disguises his route intentions. Speed changes & crisp cuts create space at route breaks. Dominated back-shoulder balls & slot fades. Tough to bring him down with the ball in his hands.

weaknesses: Tight strider with below-average release quickness. Noticeable loss of speed through stems & turns. Lacks 2nd gear to run under a deep throw. Labors opening hips & makes reactive, off-frame catches.

grade: 6.22 (Eventually will become an average starter)

comp: Allen Lazard

WR Jordyn Tyson - Arizona St  6'2"  203

combine: 26reps

2025: 3rd AP All-American/1st All BIG-12, 61rec/711yds/8TDs, 1 Rush TD

strengths: Plays with ideal suddeness & cut quickness underneath. Routes are smooth & manipulated to induce leverage. Digs hard on posts to gain ground before looking for the ball. Highly competitive to hog the catch space & win contested catches. Ball skills feature impeccable body control & high-point timing.

weaknesses: Can be impatient & hurry his routes at times. Loses momentum on in-breaking routes because of inefficient footwork. Injury history. Long speed & play strength are average.

grade: 6.46 (Will become a good starter within 2 years)

comp: Terry McLaurin
